Okay, I know what you’re thinking. It’s a pair of scissors. They sit forgotten in my drawer most of the time. How are you going to convince me to read an entire article on them, much less that the right pair of scissors will make any difference in my life?
Well, I am certainly not claiming that the perfect pair of scissors will end world hunger or bring world peace, but read on and I think you will see why they may make more of a difference in your life than you think.

We can all agree that having exactly the right tool for a job can be the difference between success and frustration. Have you ever tried to tighten a screw with a screwdriver that was slightly too big? See? The frustration is real.
Having the right tool for the job is important because it increases efficiency and decreases stress. I know - big claims for your humble tools, but true nonetheless. It is no different with a pair of scissors.
The Joy of Gift...Wrapping?
If you read that title and thought, “Wait. What?!” then it is very likely you don’t have the right gift-wrapping supplies. Wrapping gifts is no fun if the paper is hard to cut, the tape won’t rip easily, and the ribbons won’t make that delightful curl. If, however, you arm yourself with quality paper and tape, gift wrapping can be very satisfying. The last thing you need is (you guessed it!) the right pair of scissors.
You know that feeling when you cut wrapping paper and the scissors just glide through like a warm knife through butter? And you know the annoyance you feel when the glide starts but then the scissors catch? The difference is a quality pair of scissors.
And you know when you go to curl the ribbon you just spent time wrapping around the gift just right, but the ribbon sort of bends lazily instead of curling? The problem is a dull pair of scissors.

Crafting is probably the activity in which the right pair of scissors is going to make the most difference. Often crafting calls for working with various pieces of paper (like in quilling, collage or card making.) Having a pair of scissors that can cut a nice, clean line is crucial to the overall look of your project.
If you are working with cloth, thread, or yarn, you often have to cut pieces to the desired length or shape. There is nothing more frustrating than going to cut your thread and having the scissors kind of “grip” the thread instead. You end up have to saw through, which doesn’t exactly lead to a clean cut.
Useful Around the Office
In an office, a pair of scissors can seem superfluous at times. After all, unless you are a teacher or a seamstress, you probably don’t use scissors every day. But you never know when the odd cutting job will come along, and having to search for someone else’s scissors to handle one little thing probably isn’t high on your list of fun things to do. It’s much better to be prepared ahead of time.
As you can see, though having the right pair of scissors may not solve all your problems, it will make those moments when you need them more enjoyable while making jobs and projects easier. Little things like that add up to a better day and a happier you. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
